Packaging Workshop: Putting it All Together:

The Total Package Wednesday May 9th, 2012 from 6:00-8:00pm

Have a great product but not sure how to make it stand out on the shelves? You won’t want to miss William-Sonoma packaging manager, Sheila Scott’s workshop on packaging design fundamentals.

She’ll review basic packaging requirements and guidelines as well as introduce up three La Cocina businesses, Azalina’s, Neococoa, and Sabores del Sur to share their stories for the group to study.

Workshop Leader: Sheila Scott is an expert print producer currently managing global packaging sourcing & production for specialty housewares retailer Williams-Sonoma. In addition to packaging, Sheila has a broad range of experience in book publishing and advertising/marketing across a variety of industries including beverage, finance, healthcare, high tech, and entertainment. Sheila volunteers at non-profit La Cocina, providing food packaging advice to new business startups. She’s also a well-heeled world traveller and a talented mixed-media artist. Sheila earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Communications, with a concentration in Design Reproduction Technology, from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.

The workshop is made possible thanks to generous support from Chevron.

La Cocina

La Cocina is a ground-breaking business incubator designed to reduce the obstacles that often prevent low-income food entrepreneurs from creating successful and sustainable small businesses. By providing affordable, shared, commercial kitchen space, an array of industry-specific technical assistance and services, and access to market opportunities and access to capita, La Cocina works with entrepreneurs as they launch, grow, and formalize successful food businesses. We focus primarily on women from culturally diverse communities and immigrant communities. Our vision is that our program participants will become economically self-sufficient and contribute to a vibrant and diverse economy doing what they love to do.
